Run More Than One Instance of Firefox

Here is a quick tip on how to run multiple instances of Firefox at the same time using Firefox profile manager. A profile in Firefox is the collection of settings, customizations, and personalizations that a user has made in the program. You can find details about profiles on Mozilla’s end-user support site.

Before you can start the Profile Manager, Firefox must be completely closed.
Linux

Run this command in Command Terminal

firefox -p -no-remote

The Firefox profile manager will open and ask you to choose the profile you want to use. Click on the “Create Profile” button to create a new profile and once the new profile is created, select it and click “Start Firefox”.

Mac OS X

Open terminal and execute the following command

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin --ProfileManager

The Firefox profile manager will open and ask you to choose the profile you want to use. Click on the “Create Profile” button to create a new profile and once the new profile is created, select it and click “Start Firefox”.

Windows

Open run prompt by pressing Windows key + R

Run this command in run prompt

firefox.exe -P -no-remote

The Firefox profile manager will open and ask you to choose the profile you want to use. Click on the “Create Profile” button to create a new profile and once the new profile is created, select it and click “Start Firefox”.
